and authorized autoplay ads on Jalopnik. Anybody else having this problem today?

You don't use adblock and flashblock? User error.

(I specifically allowed jalopnik.com to display ads in support of my favorite site, but I still use flashblock here)

Not at work. I tried using adblock once, but the security here wouldn't let me, I think.

What Browser? For Firefox and Chrome it's a user installed plugin, ought to work since it doesn't need to be "installed"... worth a try. After IE gave our users endless fits of incompatibility we finally gave our users Firefox and Chrome to use as well.
